A largely white crowd of anti-Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) protesters clashed Thursday night with pro-police demonstrators, many of whom were black and Hispanic, in Manhattan, New York, according to footage obtained by the Daily Caller.
The anti-ICE group gathered on one side of Federal Plaza, across the street from a federal courthouse, to await the alleged emergence of ICE vans they believed to be holding illegal immigrants.
On the other side of the street running through the Plaza, based out of downtown Manhattan’s Foley Square, was an opposing group wearing “Back The Blue” and NYPD shirts, cheering in support of the many police officers present at the protest, footage shows. At one point, after the pro-police erupted into “NYPD” chants, the anti-ICErs could be heard replying with jeers of “suck their dicks! suck their dicks!”
A man who said he was Dominican — he was at the scene to support the police — attempted to engage the anti-ICE crowd, but multiple protesters encouraged their fellow demonstrators to ignore him, according to one video.
While the Caller was unable to gauge the precise racial makeup of each group, the Caller identified a number of the most vocal pro-police voices as being ethnic minorities.
The anti-ICE crowd did have some Puerto Rican protesters waving Puerto Rican flags, but many, if not most, of their ranks were white or white-presenting.

The demonstrations appeared to take an aggressive turn when a pair of anti-ICE protesters crossed the street to engage in discussion with the pro-police side, according to footage. What began as a calm discussion quickly escalated into heated arguing.
Police moved to separate the two sides after one mask-clad anti-ICE protester approached the discussion and appeared to start shouting, according to footage.
