Morgan Wallen closed out his first-ever Sand in My Boots festival with the perfect blend of old and new.
During his headlining set at the music festival — which was held at Alabama’s Gulf Shores on Sunday, May 18 — the “7 Summers” singer debuted new music off his newly released studio album I’m the Problem.
“Me and a couple of my closest friends and teammates have been throwing around the idea of throwing a music festival for a long time now… and with a lot of hard work and a lot of really great artists… we got to make that happen,” Wallen, 32, told the crowd at the top of the show.
When the crowd roared in response, he said, “Alright cool. We’ll try and do it again sometime.”
Then, the country star said he was “trying to make sure ya’ll have a good time” and promised to play some of his career-spanning hits in addition to “some of my favorites from the new album.”

“It seems like after the first couple of days you guys are enjoying it as much as I do so I’m extremely grateful for that,” he said of I’m the Problem.
Throughout the show, Wallen played various songs from the album including “I’m the Problem,” “Superman,” “I Got Better,” “Kick Myself,” “Don’t We” and “I’m a Little Crazy.”

Then, after he played “Just in Case,” Wallen said to the crowd: “Man, y’all love them toxic songs. Guess I’ll keep singing them.”
Wallen — who brought out Bailey Zimmerman and ERNEST during his set — closed out the show with an encore performance of “Last Night” and his 2016 debut single “The Way I Talk.”
I’m the Problem includes 37 tracks, including previously released “Superman,” “Just in Case,” “Love Somebody,” “I Ain’t Comin’ Back,” “Lies Lies Lies,” “I’m a Little Crazy” and the album’s title track.
After the festival, Wallen — who recently skipped the ACM Awards — will gear up to embark on the 2025 I’m the Problem Tour, which kicks off June 20 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.

“We made so many lifelong memories on the One Night at a Time World Tour, and I cannot begin to express how grateful I am for my fans and the way they showed up each night,” Wallen said in a press release in January. “As I’ve been working on new music, it has inspired me to get back on the road and share these new songs with each of you on the I’m The Problem Tour. See y’all there.”
Throughout the tour, he’ll be joined at various dates by Brooks & Dunn, Miranda Lambert, Thomas Rhett, Koe Wetzel, Gavin Adcock, Corey Kent, Ella Langley and Anne Wilson.
Before Sand in My Boots, Wallen made headlines for his abrupt exit from the SNL stage when he served as musical guest in March.
However, during a recent interview on Caleb Pressley’s Sundae Conversations, he spoke out on the moment for the first time.
“I was just ready to go home. I’d been there all week,” he said.
