Kayem Foods Inc. is recalling more than 24,000 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken sausage after the company received consumer reports of white pieces of plastic in the food, according to a U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) notice.
“FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers,” the agency says in a July 17 notice.
While there have been at least three complaints about the presence of plastic pieces in the sausages, no injuries have been reported, the FSIS said.
The 24,173 pounds of recalled sausages were produced on June 28, 2025, according to FSIS and Kayem Foods. Here’s what to know.
Which products are recalled?
The impacted products include 11-ounce, four-piece packages of Kayem Foods’ “All Natural Al Fresco Chicken Sausage Sweet Apple with Vermont Made Syrup.” The packages have a lot code “179” and a use/freeze by date of Oct. 1, 2025, printed on the back package label.
The recalled products have the establishment number “P-7839” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were shipped to retail locations nationwide.
