SNL alum Molly Shannon, 60, has an exciting new project. The hilarious actress — whose hysterical Mary Katherine Gallagher character is one of the most iconic in SNL history — is teaming up with former SNL costar Will Ferrell for a new streaming series that has fans anxiously awaiting its launch.

Deadline Hollywood was first to announce Shannon’s new show, and she later shared the article on her own Instagram account. Shannon reunites with Ferrell for a Netflix comedy series about golf.

In the 10-episode, currently untitled series, Ferrell plays fictional golf legend Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins, while Shannon plays his trash-talking ex-wife.

Congratulations quickly rolled in through the post’s comment section. One fan wrote, “This is amazing news,” while another added, “You two are the absolute best together.”

Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon were on ‘SNL’ at the same time
Ferrell and Shannon were SNL castmates during the same era. While Ferrell was on the long-running sketch show from 1996–2002, Shannon’s tenure lasted from 1995–2001. The duo’s “Dog Show” sketch was a highlight of that Saturday Night Live era.
Ferrell also starred alongside Shannon in her film Superstar, an offshoot of her Mary Katherine Gallagher character.
