Ming-Na Wen is playing dress up for her wedding anniversary!
In honor of their 30th wedding anniversary on Monday, June 16, the actress, 61, and her husband, Eric Michael Zee, recreated their wedding portrait from their 1995 elopement in Hawaii.
“Same wedding dress & suit! Same pose, location & day! Only it’s 30 years later. Sunscreen replaced suntan, apparently. 😂,” Wen captioned a post shared on Instagram. “30 years ago today, we eloped to Maui. To celebrate our special anniversary, we recreated our wedding photo. Pretty cool, eh?❤️💖❤️.”
Wen — who is best known as the voice of Mulan in Disney’s animated films — shared a split image of two photos taken 30 years apart in front of a tree on a beach.
In the first throwback photo, Zee smiles as he embraces Wen from behind, who gleefully clutches his arms. The pair recreated the pose in the second photo, with Zee wearing his same tan suit and Wee wearing her exact V-neck wedding dress and similar purple flower crown. The pair looks just as happy now as they did on their wedding day.
A few hours earlier, in an Instagram carousel posted late on June 16, Wen paid tribute to her anniversary with a sweet tribute to her husband.

“LET’S DO 30 MORE, babe!!!! Happy anniversary, my love! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️,” Wen wrote alongside 20 pictures. “Photos are some of our anniversaries. Whether we travelled or stayed home, each has been a joyful blessing & adventure. 🥂😍🥰💕💞💓.”
Most photos showed Wen and Zee enjoying each other’s company during trips taken together. Two photos included the couple’s two children: daughter Michaela and son Cooper.
Holly Robinson Peete, who celebrated her 30th wedding anniversary with husband Rodney Peete on June 10, re-shared the post to her Instagram Story, writing, “Welcome to the 30 year club, kids!!” above an animated “Happy Anniversary” sticker.
Back in 2020, during a virtual Joy Luck Club reunion with Gold House, Wen opened up about the first time she met Zee.
She explained how her ride from Rosalind Chao to a special screening of The Joy Luck Club fell through, so she called her acting teacher in Los Angeles for help. He sent his student, Zee, to pick her up.
“I wasn’t into Asian men at the time,” Wen said. “And so I sent him off to go see the movie while I was going to have dinner with my girlfriends … All of them were like, ‘Hey, who’s he?’ “

“He was so cute, and you could just tell he was smitten with her,” Chao added.
“He wasn’t into Asian women either at the time,” Wen chimed in before continuing with a shrug, “So it was just fate.”
