Miley Cyrus is addressing rumors of friction within her family.
The “Flowers” singer published a statement about the Cyrus’ dynamics amid speculation of strife among them in an Instagram Story on Saturday.
“I rarely comment on rumors, but my mama and I are too tight for anything to ever come between us,” she wrote of her mother, Tish Cyrus.
The musician then acknowledged reports that her mother had unfollowed her on Instagram, insisting that it was an error rather than an intentional move. “She’s my best friend,” Miley wrote. “Like a lot of moms, she doesn’t know how to work her phone and somehow unfollowed me — simple, coincidental, and uninteresting.”
She also briefly touched on her relationship with her father, fellow performer Billy Ray Cyrus. “My dad and I have had our challenges over the years,” she wrote. “Now, in my 30s, [my] family is my priority above all else. I’m at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing. Grateful for the good health and love that flows through my family.”
Miley also appeared in Billy Ray’s Instagram post wishing his son, Braison Cyrus, a happy birthday on Friday.
The Hannah Montana star’s post comes during an eventful period for the celebrity family. Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus filed for divorce in April 2022, and this time followed through with it, after reconciling following their previous 2010 and 2013 filings. Billy Ray Cyrus then announced his engagement to singer Firerose in November 2022.
In August 2023, Tish Cyrus married Prison Break star Dominic Purcell after they had been dating for nine months, and Miley reportedly served as the maid of honor at the ceremony, which also included her siblings Brandi and Trace Cyrus.

Billy Ray Cyrus then filed for divorce from Firerose in June 2024 after seven months of marriage. The ex-couple settled their contentious split that August.
The country singer also made headlines this year after his unusual performance at Donald Trump’s second inauguration in January. The incident prompted his son, Trace, to pen an open letter calling for his father to seek help.
Shortly after, Billy Ray posted on Instagram that he was praying for his loved ones. “Praying for my family,” he wrote. “For my children … sons and daughters … and their mother.”

He then announced his new relationship with Elizabeth Hurley in April. The couple met while filming their 2022 movie, Christmas in Paradise.
“We did very few scenes together, but the couple times we were in the same scene there was a chemistry,” Cyrus said. “We just laughed and it was at a time I wasn’t laughing a lot, and I found it the oddest thing.”
