As production gets underway for the sequel to Devil Wears Prada, Meryl Streep has been spotted filming on set in New York City. Yesterday, the actress was photographed with Stanley Tucci and Anne Hathaway as she filmed a scene exiting an office building.
For the scene, Streep looked elegant in a gray suit set, silver jewelry, and oversized sunglasses.
Plot details for the sequel to the beloved 2006 film have been kept under wraps, but according to Variety, Devil Wears Prada 2 follows Miranda “as she navigates her career amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing and as she faces off against Blunt’s character, now a high-powered executive for a luxury group with advertising dollars that Priestly desperately needs.”
Joining the cast for the sequel include Patrick Brammall, who will play Andy’s love interest, and Kenneth Branagh, who will play Miranda’s husband. Other new cast members include Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, Helen J. Shen, and Conrad Ricamora.
Last week, Streep was also pictured on set in New York City as Miranda:
One thing that will be different between the first two films: Streep will not be a “Method” actor. “It was horrible! I was [miserable] in my trailer,” Streep told Entertainment Weekly about filming the original Devil Wears Prada. “I could hear them all rocking and laughing. I was so depressed! I said, ‘Well, it’s the price you pay for being boss!’ That’s the last time I ever attempted a Method thing!”
