Meghan Markle Misses Prince Harry’s Hand In Awkward Moment

Meghan Markle has raised eyebrows after seemingly leaving Prince Harry hanging in an awkward moment at the TIME100 Summit in New York City.

The two arrived together for the ceremony, but when Harry seemed to stretch out his hand to hold on to Meghan as she stepped out of the vehicle, his gesture was ignored by the former “Suits” star.

A body language expert later analyzed the interaction, claiming Prince Harry “appears to be in the role of ‘spare,'” while Meghan Markle “seems to be very much in the lead.”

During their appearance at the TIME100 Summit in New York City, Meghan and Harry shared a slightly awkward moment in front of the cameras.

As the pair stepped out of their vehicle to walk into the event, Harry extended his hand toward Meghan, seemingly in a bid to walk in with her.

However, the former actress appeared not to notice the gesture and left her partner hanging uncomfortably.

She went on to hug a woman who had her arms outstretched and seemed to have been waiting for the “Suits” star’s arrival.

Meanwhile, Harry, seemingly trying to recover, adjusted his outfit while watching his wife and the woman, who appears to be her assistant, engage in a cordial exchange.

After the interaction, Meghan led the way into the event without waiting for Harry, leaving him to trail behind her.

Following the awkward moment, a body language expert has analyzed the interaction, pointing out how Harry acted as a “spare” while leaving Meghan to take the “lead.”

“Whether Harry’s leading or lurking here, he appears to be in the role of ‘spare,’ displaying some awkward-looking body language poses while a more assured Meghan takes the starring role,” James told the Daily Mail.

She added, “By the time they’re arriving for the greetings, it seems to be Meghan very much in the lead while Harry lurks behind.”

James also pointed out that Meghan used a “key nonverbal cue” to make herself more important as she made her way into the event.

“Her arms are bent at a 45-degree angle, her hands adopt a ‘celebrity wilt’, dangling from her bent wrists. This is a gesture that suggests a form of specialness,” the body language expert remarked.

Harry and Meghan arrived at the summit dressed in suits of contrasting colors.

The “Spare” author wore a navy blue suit, similar to the ones he was seen wearing during his recent appeal in London over his downgraded security detail.

However, he chose to go tieless, unlike those appearances, while leaving his suit jacket open to reveal a crisp white shirt. The prince completed the look with polished black dress shoes.

Meanwhile, Meghan wore a $5,000 tan Ralph Lauren blazer over a white shirt, cinched with a brown belt at the waist.

She paired it with matching oversized tan trousers and added height with heels that complemented the belt. She kept her makeup minimal and wore her hair loose, letting it cascade over her blazer.

While the pair might have had an awkward moment prior to the event, Meghan went on to shower praises on Harry when she was handed the mic.

The As Ever founder told the audience that she is the “happiest I’ve ever been,” due to Harry and her kids’ influence. The two share two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

“To have a husband and a partner who is so supportive and to have healthy kids that are so joyful in the freeness of their life and the safety in their life that we create for them,” the mother of two shared.

“Of all the things that have happened in my life, I never would have imagined getting here,” she added.

While speaking at the TIME100 event, Meghan revealed why she didn’t film her recently released Netflix cooking show, “With Love, Meghan,” at her Montecito residence.

“When people say, ‘Why didn’t you [film in] your house?’ It’s like, well, my kids are coming home for their nap, and 80 people in the kitchen isn’t really the childhood memory I would love for them to have,” Meghan confessed, per E! News.

The show was ultimately filmed in the kitchen of philanthropists Thomas and Sherrie Cipolla, whose residence lies two miles away from the former actress’s home.

Meghan also said she and the team were “really fortunate” to find a closer alternative, referencing the Cipollas’ $5 million property.
