Megan Thee Stallion arrived on this year’s Met Gala carpet with a fiery red sculpture-esque ponytail inspired by superstar Josephine Baker. This is the Grammy winner’s third appearance on the Met Gala carpet, and she worked alongside her longtime hairstylist, Kellon Deryck, to create her look. Using Tangle Teezer’s Ultimate Detangler Chrome, Deryck brushed Megan’s hair back into a slick ponytail and gathered it into a voluminous bouffant base before letting it cascade into long waves.

This marks Megan’s return to the Met Gala carpet after a three-year hiatus. She showed up to fashion’s biggest night wearing a white embroidered dress that was dripping in sparkles and styled with a long fur coat by Michael Kors. The ensemble drew inspiration from Baker and Eartha Kitt, who Kors described as “the ultimate female dandy,” during his carpet interview with Teyana Taylor and Ego Nwodim. A nod to the theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” Megan’s look was symbolic of the strength and power of the iconic musicians that came before her.

The rapper made her last appearance on the Met steps for the 2022 “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” theme. There, Megan sported another slicked-back hairstyle featuring a textured chignon with spiked ends. Her dress, a custom golden Moschino gown designed by Jeremy Scott, featured a feathered shoulder design that resembled the look of angel wings.
