Meet the Cast of ‘Outlander: Blood of my Blood’

It’s time to travel back through history once again. The highly anticipated Outlander prequel, Blood of my Blood, is finally here offering fans the opportunity to meet many characters only referenced in passing as far back as in the earliest seasons of the show. Per Starz’s story notes, the series will center around “two parallel love stories set in two different time periods, with Jamie’s parents in the early 18th century Scottish Highlands and Claire’s parents in World War I England.”

Harriet Slater as Ellen MacKenzie

Ellen MacKenzie is a proud daughter of Clan MacKenzie. Notably, she was her father’s favorite child before he died. But when her brothers go head-to-head to become the clan leader, she finds herself in a difficult situation.

Ellen is played by Harriet Slater, who has appeared in Pennyworth, All Creatures Great and Small, Belgravia: The Next Chapter, and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and Tarot.

Jamie Roy as Brian Fraser

Brian Fraser is the illegitimate child of Simon Fraser, Lord Lovat. He secretly travels to the Great Gathering called to choose Jacob MacKenzie’s successor, where he first meets Ellen.

He is portrayed by Jamie Roy, who appeared in the action film Condor’s Nest and the TV movie Flowers and Honey.

Hermione Corfield as Julia Moriston

Julia Moriston is Claire Beauchamp’s mother, whose life during World War I leads her into unexpected circumstances.

She is portrayed by Hermione Corfield, known for her roles in The Road Dance, We Hunt Together, Rust Creek, Sea Fever, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Jeremy Irvine as Henry Beauchamp

Henry Beauchamp, Claire’s father, is a World War I soldier whose journey takes an unfortunate turn on a day trip in Scotland.

He is played by Jeremy Irvine, who made his breakthrough in War Horse and has appeared in Great Expectations, The Railway Man, Mamma Mia Here We Go Again and the series Treadstone.

Sam Retford as Dougal MacKenzie

Dougal MacKenzie is the younger brother of Colum MacKenzie, who, because of his brute strength assumes he should be leader of Clan MacKenzie. But he often rushes into battle without thinking first. The younger version of this familiar character is portrayed by Sam Retford, who appeared in Coronation Street, The Boleyns: A Scandalous Family, and All Creatures Great and Small.

Seamus McLean Ross as Colum MacKenzie

Colum MacKenzie is the older brother of Clan MacKenzie, known for his sharp mind and commanding presence despite living with a debilitating condition. He appears closer to Ellen, but he is no less ruthless when it comes to using her as a pawn. He is portrayed by Seamus McLean Ross, who appeared in Rebus and Payback.

Rory Alexander as Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser

Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser appears here as his younger self. He travels with his second cousin, Brian Fraser, to the Great Gathering.

He is portrayed by Rory Alexander, whose credits include Call the Midwife, Pistol, and Alex Rider.

Sadhbh Malin as Jocasta Cameron

Jocasta Cameron is the youngest child of the MacKenzie clan. While she’s more youthful in Blood of My Blood than the original Outlander series, she is also a bit more dour. The character is portrayed by Sadhbh Malin, who has appeared in Conversations With Friends and Love, Rosie.

Tony Curran as Lord Lovat

Lord Lovat is a cunning leader who is despised by Clan MacKenzie. He is played by Tony Curran, known for his work in Outlaw King, Mary & George, Ray Donovan, and Deadwood: The Movie.

Conor MacNeill as Ned Gowan

Ned Gowan is Clan MacKenzie’s financial and legal advisor, whose sharp mind plays a vital role to the plot both now and in the future. This younger version of the character is portrayed by Conor MacNeill, who has appeared in Industry, Artemis Fowl, Derry Girls, and Belfast.

Sally Messham as Mrs. Fitz

Mrs. Fitz is Ellen MacKenzie’s maid at Castle Leoch and Murtagh’s aunt. She is played by Sally Messham, whose credits include Aftersun, The Miniaturist, and Blitz.
