Season 14’s Most Iconic Masks Are Here — And They’re Absolutely Wild
The long-awaited season 14 of The Masked Singer is almost upon us, which means all-new costumes to ogle. Prior to the series’ return on Fox on Jan. 7, the network announced that 18 new masks would be taking the stage this season. And, in a series first, the identity of the celebrity under one of the masks will be known to the world (but not the panelists) ahead of time. That person, dubbed “America’s Insider” because she will take viewers behind her journey throughout the season, has been revealed as singer and Descendants star Kylie Cantrall.
As for the other contestants, your guess is as good as ours, but maybe there’s some hidden clues in the costumes, which Entertainment Weekly is rounding up all together in one place, below. From an Eggplant with “big mask energy” to a 14 Karat Carrot (yes, really), check out all of the zany new costumes for The Masked Singer season 14.
14 Karat Carrot
The Masked Singer execs couldn’t help themselves here. In an obvious nod to the show’s 14th season, we’ve got a vegetable gilded in gold — not 24k, not 18k — but 14k, because of course we do.
Snowcone
Well, isn’t this costume just delightful? Questionable choice of yellow-colored snow aside, the rest of the ensemble just evokes fond summertime memories, colors, and flavors.
Eggplant
Fox introduced this costume on social media with its own poster blaring the words, “Big mask energy.” And that’s about all we can safely say on the matter. They knew what they were doing.
Galaxy Girl
That spiky skirt looks like a safety hazard waiting to happen, but overall, this costume is completely out of this world. (Sorry, we had to.)
High Voltage
If this contestant doesn’t at some point get to scream-sing an AC/DC song, it will be a major missed opportunity. Or, better yet, how about putting someone from the band under the mask? Do it, ya cowards!
Owl
If a cyborg and an owl had a baby, this costume would be it. The teal color is gorgeous, and overall the outfit is super cute, but the millennial in us can’t shake the feeling it is all very Furby-esque. Shudders.
Googly Eyes
Every season has to have a costume that is pure nightmare fuel, and this year, it seems Googly Eyes is it. We’re not sure what’s more terrifying — its massive size, or those worm-looking appendages.
Calla Lily
What an enchanting costume! She joins other botanical ensembles including season 2’s Flower and season 13’s Cherry Blossom.
Scarab
This ensemble looks so good it looks like something straight out of The Mummy. Come to think of it, Rachel Weisz is that you?!
Queen Corgi
God save the queen (Corgi)! This adorable costume looks poised to rule over The Masked Singer stage with a flick of her paw and a wag of her stumpy tail.
Cat Witch
Meow! This absolutely purrfect costume has completely cast a spell on us, but can she conjure that magic with the panel, too?
Pugcasso
This get-up is truly a — wait for it! — work of art. And it’s punny to match. Now we just need an Andy Warthog or a Salvador Dolly.
The Croissants
Bonjour, mes amis! Qui êtes-vous?
Le Who Who
Ah, it’s the token “what the heck is that?!” costume.
Stingray
This costume is so smooth, it seems poised to glide right to the top of the competition. Here’s hoping the contestant has the vocals to match.
Pangolin
This Pangolin looks like she’s ready to head to her local Renaissance Faire.
Handyman
No tinkering necessary here — this costume is all set and ready for tool time. Come to think of it, Tim Allen, is that you?
Crane
Some of the most beautiful costumes in Masked Singer history belong to the birds — Showbird, Lovebird, Macaw, Snow Owls, Peacock, Flamingo, and Black Swan, to name just a few. And Crane, with her beautiful kimono and bedazzled elements, certainly fits the bill.
