Martin Scorsese knows best!

During an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, April 30, Chase Sui Wonders revealed her favorite behind-the-scenes moments while filming The Studio. When host Jimmy Fallon asked who “freaked” her out the most of the many celebrity cameos throughout the season, Wonders immediately knew her answer.

“I would be remiss if I didn’t say Mr. Scorsese,” she said. “Mr. Martin Scorsese.”

“He’s hilarious!” Fallon noted, and the actress agreed.

“I wasn’t even working that day,” she explained. “I made it my mission — I was, like, pretending I had stuff to do, carrying around sides, like, ‘Oh, hair and makeup test. Oh, I’m just here, I’m actually one of the actors. I’m not in the scene, but, you know, I’m around, I have a very involved process.’”

Wonders and Fallon then joked that Scorsese “knows” he’s popular.

“It must happen to him all day,” the late-night host said with a laugh. “He’s like, ‘Yeah, of course you want to meet me.’ I mean, it’s Martin Scorsese.”

Reminiscing on meeting the iconic actor, Wonders said, “He goes for the handshake first!”

“That’s what I like about him,” she added. “Because he has the glint in his eye. He knows everyone’s got one eye on him. So he went in for the handshake first. That’s the real GOAT.”

Gushing over Scorsese being “a classy” and “humble guy,” who is “willing to just mess around,” the Generation star recalled one moment that truly showed his level of confidence in his craft.

“He was also critiquing Seth [Rogen] and Evan [Goldberg] on their directing style,” she revealed. “He’s like, ‘You use way too many expletives on this show.’ And Seth’s like, ‘We learned it from you!’”

Rogen played several roles in bringing The Studio to life, as the co-creator, director and star. In the satire series, the comedian plays Matt Remick, the newly appointed head of a film company who is navigating difficult Hollywood talent, corporate figures and more to continue making worthwhile movies.

In a March interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Rogen admitted that he was nervous to direct Scorsese.

“We wrote a part that was very specific for Martin. It was Martin Scorsese, so he could only play Martin Scorsese,” he noted, adding: “We sent it to his agent, and we were so excited when we heard that he liked it, and he wanted to do it. And then I was confronted with the very real reality that I had to now direct Martin Scorsese in something. As a director, it’s your worst nightmare in the entire world. Having to direct one of the greatest living filmmakers in something.”

Even Rogen’s mom contributed to him being “incredibly scared” for the experience, calling him the day filming began to say: “You must be terrified. This is the scariest thing you could possibly have to do.”

“It was terrible,” Rogen said. “I over-prepared, actually, because the show, we shoot in a very specific way where we use one camera, and it’s all long continuous takes. There’s no cutting. It’s long continuous shots and you don’t usually shoot comedy like that. And so I was very nervous Martin Scorsese would not like it.”

Rogen then revealed that he even “hired a whole second camera crew” as a backup plan. “I stashed them in a hotel room somewhere on the off chance Scorsese was like, ‘Where’s the second camera?’ I wanted to be like, ‘They’re right here. I got them right here.’”
