Hugh Hefner always knew exactly what he wanted — even when it came to his cheeseburger order.
The late magazine publisher enjoyed a very specific type of mini cheeseburger, his son Marston Hefner, shared via Instagram on Saturday, August 9.
“HUGH HEFNER’S MINI HAMBURGER DINNER,” Marston, 35, wrote in the caption, before listing the Playboy founder’s arguably complex order.
The burgers, which included ingredients like tater tots, white onion and American cheese, could be ordered as a meal or a snack and was “always served with chilled applesauce.”

The full ingredient list for the mini burgers included three ounces of HMH Extra Lean Ground Beef (“split in two evenly), half a cup of a finely diced white onion, one slice of American cheese (split into fourths) and two Parkerhouse Rolls (split in half and toasted).
There were also presentation instructions. The burgers were to be placed “on one side of a warm HMH dinner plate” with tater tots alongside them, while “The Tomato Plate and Chilled Applesauce are served on the side of the main plate.”
“When Mr. Hefner calls for his dinner, everything should be ready and assembled immediately,” the instructions read. “The Butler should serve the meal immediately.
In the “notes” section, additional orders were given depending on when Hugh was making his order.
“Depending on time of day, Mr. Hefner may order it as a snack—check with the Butlers,” it read. “He may request Lays Potato Chips or Skinny Fries instead of Tater Tots. Serve the same amount of skinny fries or chips.”
In March, Marston reflected on what it was like growing up in the shadow of his father’s Playboy enterprise. He explained that he often bonded with the more “ambitious” Playmates he met through his dad’s work.
“They were not using Playboy as a way into Hollywood. For the most part, they were using it to pay for vet school or to get them further in their career,” Marston explained in an exclusive interview with Us Weekly. “One [Kelly Wearstler] became a really successful interior designer from doing that. Those were the Playmates that I gravitated to and had the most interesting conversations with.”
Marston’s own mother was the magazine’s Playmate of the Month in January 1988 and Playmate of the year in 1989.
Marston also said his post-Playboy mansion life has included examinations of his own sexuality.
“I don’t think they’ve changed too much, except I’m just more open with who I am, and more accepting of my sexuality,” he said of his views of sexuality in general. He has noted on social media that he considers himself both “bisexual AF” and “sexually fluid.”

“I use bisexual just because I think most people understand what bisexual means,” he explained. “I realize I read as straight, so being with straight men and saying, ‘Oh yeah, I’m sexually fluid,’ was something I started doing when I made an OnlyFans account. It takes courage, and people act like we’re already there, but I feel like there are a lot of “straight looking” men who are on a spectrum of sexuality, and it would be nice to reach a point where it’s just normal. Nobody gets to say who I am but me at the end of the day.”
Marston married Anna Lambropoulos in August 2022 and the pair welcomed their first son together the next year.
