Businessman and television personality Mark Cuban criticized Democrats during a Sunday podcast for constantly attacking President Donald Trump rather than offering solutions to help Americans.
Democrats have consistently resisted the president on issues including immigration enforcement, striking Iran and barring biological males from competing in female sports. Cuban, on “Pod Save America,” said Democrats must abandon their relentless anti-Trump messaging to win elections. “It’s just ‘Trump sucks.’ That’s the underlying thought of everything the Democrats do,” Cuban said. “‘Trump sucks.’ Trump says the sky is blue. ‘Trump sucks.’”
“That’s not the way to win! It’s just not! Because it’s not about Trump — it’s about the people of the United States of America — and what’s good for them!” he continued. “And how do you get them to a place where they’re in a better position and it’s less stressful for them.”
Democratic Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett even admitted during a March “Lone Star Politics” interview that she was prioritizing resisting Trump over passing legislation.
“[U]nfortunately, I am not working towards very much that I would consider being the progress train,” Crockett said. “I am working to make sure that I can minimize the regress train right now. And I think— and I hope — that my district appreciates that I am being honest with them.”
Despite the popularity of certain Trump policies, Democratic New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand said during “On Brand with Donny Deutsch” in March that she struggled to back them because she believed he was cruel.
“[W]hat has been hardest for a lot of people like me to deal with is that he’s so disingenuous. He doesn’t mean it. And he says things that could be popular with everyone, but then does it in the meanest, most divisive way possible,” Gillibrand said. “And he just takes that oxygen out of the room every time. So it’s just disappointing.”
Over 50% of Hispanic voters backed the Trump administration’s policy of increasing the “pace of deportations … prioritizing individuals with criminal records,” according to a June online poll from the League of American Workers (LAW) and TechnoMetrica Institute of Policy and Politics (TIPP). Moreover, 51% of Americans believe that the American economy is “strong” under Trump’s leadership, according to a Harvard University Center for American Political Studies (CAPS)/Harris poll conducted in May.
