Mark Cuban: Democrats’ only message is ‘Trump sucks’

Billionaire investor Mark Cuban, who was a surrogate for former Vice President Kamala Harris’s 2024 campaign, criticized Democrats’ approach to political messaging and urged them to move beyond just blaming President Trump.

“We pick the wrong pressure points,” Cuban said in an interview on Crooked Media’s “Pod Save America.”

“It’s just, ‘Trump sucks.’ That’s the underlying thought of everything the Democrats do. ‘Trump sucks.’ Trump says, ‘The sky is blue’: ‘Trump sucks,’” he continued. “That’s not the way to win. It’s just not.”

“Because it’s not about Trump. It’s about the people of the United States of America and what’s good for them. And how do you get them to a place where they’re in a better position and it’s less stressful for them,” he added.

Cuban said Democrats need to work harder to make the real-life impact of Republican policies clear to the American people.

He said his problem with Republicans’ “One Big, Beautiful Bill” is not the extension of the 2017 tax cuts — it’s that it is so large it’s tough to communicate the extent of the damage he says could come from its smaller provisions.

Rather than blame Trump for the Medicaid cuts, Cuban said, Democrats should take the issue to individual states, which ultimately will be tasked with making final decisions about who qualifies for coverage.

Cuban also urged Democrats to “call out” officials such as Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R) and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) over how they’ll handle Medicaid in their states.

He suggested Democrats ask the governors: “What are you going to do? It’s in your control. How are you going to deal with these people? Are you going to kick them off? Because you can make the decision to retain them on Medicaid.”

“Put the pressure on them, right? The people who actually can make or break somebody,” Cuban added.
