Mariah Carey Doesn’t Think About Aging the Way Most People Do originally appeared on Parade.
Mariah Carey admitted that she doesn’t think about aging the way most people do, and she even teased that her secret to anti-aging is denial.
“I don’t allow it – it just doesn’t happen,” Carey, 56, told Harper’s Bazzar UK about her stance when it comes to aging. “I don’t know time. I don’t know numbers. I do not acknowledge time – I have a new song that starts with that line.”
The comment was a reference to a track on her upcoming album, Here For It All, which is scheduled to be released on September 26.
It turns out that Carey has always put off denying the concept of time, and she previously said during an interview with Out Magazine in 2014 that she’s “eternally 12 years old.”
“I don’t count years, but I definitely rebuke them — I have anniversaries, not birthdays, because I celebrate life, darling,” she said. The “Obsessed” singer went on to admit that the mindset is a bit delusional by adding, “Please put an LOL next to this, because people are going to be, like, WTF?”

Carey revealed her stance on aging as fans eagerly await the release of her 16th studio album. She announced the album in a July 21 Instagram post that included a black and white video that showed her strutting in spiked heels. She was also heard singing a new song in the background. “Here For It All. My new album out 9/26. Pre-order now!” she captioned the video alongside two blue butterfly emojis.
Shortly after she uploaded the announcement, several of her fans expressed their excitement in the comments section. “O M G new era is HERE! And WE HERE!” one person wrote, and a second chimed in, “Can’t wait to listen to it ! It reminds me of when I was a kid and always got so excited when a new album came out.. Daydream… Butterfly… Rainbow.. Glitter… and so on!”
