Over the past couple of years, “My Church” singer Maren Morris has experienced quite the whirlwind when it comes to her personal life, notably divorcing country singer/songwriter Ryan Hurd at the start of last year.

For those who need a refresher, Morris and Hurd met in 2013 writing “Last Turn Home” for Tim McGraw together, instantaneously sparking up quite the connection and getting married in March 2018. Despite welcoming their son, Hayes, in March 2020, the pair filed for divorce in October 2023, finalizing said divorce in January 2024.

With a now five-year-old son, Morris and Hurd seem to be tacking co-parenting head-on, with the “The Bones” singer opening up about their out-of-the-ordinary dynamic in a recent interview with The Zoe Report, simultaneously serving as the outlet’s cover star for the month of May.

According to The Zoe Report, “Morris’ house sits on a quiet cul-de-sac in Nashville. She likes her neighbors and the peace with which she can walk her dachshund pup, Alfie.” Despite being a place of serenity for the 35-year-old, her house is also five minutes away from Hurd…

While many divorced couples might see this scenario as something rather precarious, Morris has made the most out of a sticky situation, instead telling the outlet about how much she loves her newly-renovated home, as well as how easy co-parenting has been because of its location. “Our stops are really easy, and we’ll have family dinners… My business manager tells me it needs to be a long-term home because of how much we renovated,” she dished.

Continuing on the topic of co-parenting, the Texas native spilled that although she and Hurd do “family dinners” as a threesome, they alternate weeks with Hayes. She concluded, “Those weeks I have him, the house is full of chaos and energy and laughter and scraped knees, and then when he is not there, you have to recalibrate your alone-ness, because you’re like, ‘Wow, this is just me in here now.’ That’s when I’ve leaned into it and not been drowned by my own company.”

Learning to find joy and peace in the silence, it seems Morris has found the strength to handle divorced life serendipitously, including her relationship with her ex-husband.
