Maren Morris isn’t afraid to set some boundaries and stick to them.
The Dreamsicle artist, 35, shared why she’ll walk out of an interview at a moment’s notice while chatting exclusively with Parade on the red carpet of Variety’s Power of Women event in Nashville on Thursday, May 1. When asked what Morris’ “unlikely secret weapon” to being a successful woman in the industry is, the Grammy Award winner didn’t hesitate to answer.

“I think I have pretty strong boundaries. People don’t disrespect me,” she explained. “Like, I don’t get taken advantage of because I think — and I’m not saying to slight anyone — but I’ll just walk away in the middle of an interview if I feel like it’s getting weird.”
As for what her personal woman-centric motto is, the “Girl” singer told Parade she’s had the same mantra for years.
“I always say the same thing, but I’m like, don’t be an asshole on the way up, [and] don’t be an asshole on the way down,” she said.
