Madilyn Bailey is opening up about a difficult experience.
The singer, who competed on season 16 of America’s Got Talent, shared in a statement on Instagram on Monday, April 28, that she had recently experienced an ectopic pregnancy that resulted in a miscarriage and emergency surgery.
“3 weeks ago I found out I was pregnant,” Bailey began her statement, saying that she and husband Jimmy Benrud were “really excited” to think about having a new little one by Christmas.
“But sadly 2 weeks later I went into the ER with a lot of pain and found out my pregnancy was ectopic and I was bleeding internally,” she continued. “I ended up having an emergency surgery done that same day.”

The musician, who shares daughter Bobbie with her husband, said she feels lucky to have caught it early and grateful to all the doctors who helped to save her life.
“I am heart broken [sic] and still processing the vents of the past couple weeks but I am doing a lot better,” continued Bailey, adding that she has to cancel her upcoming tour in China.
“I wanted to share this to give y’all an update but also for anyone who might be going through a similar situation,” she went on. “The fertility journey can feel awfully lonely at times but maybe by sharing I can make it a little less lonely.”
“The grief I feel for the loss of my little bean is more intense than I ever could have imagined but even in the midst of the pain, it was still so fun looking at that pregnancy test and seeing ‘pregnant.'”
Bailey explained that she wasn’t aware she could love something so much and feels grateful for the time she had with her little “bean.”
“It also makes me even more grateful for my little Bobbie girl,” Bailey said. “What a miracle.”
