Luke Bryan Tricks Patriots Fans at Mass. Show with Tom Brady Tease: ‘So Wrong for Me to Do That to Y’all’

Luke Bryan is playing tricks on his fans.

The country star, 49, brought his Country Song Came On Tour to the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Mass. on Friday, Aug. 8 and teased the crowd by announcing an appearance from Tom Brady one day before the New England Patriots unveiled a 12-foot-tall statue of the NFL star at Gillette Stadium.

“Congratulations for Tom Brady’s new statue today,” said Bryan on stage, before chanting “TB 12” in a reference to the 48-year-old former quarterback’s Patriots jersey number.

“And welcome to the stage, Tom Brady! Y’all give it up,” shouted the “One Margarita” singer, as the crowd erupted in applause. “I’m just f—— with y’all. Oh, that is so wrong for me to do that to y’all.”

Bryan added, “Who did I get? Who did I get? Alright, I’m sorry.”

He concluded the moment with a final joke: “You know, [Brady] only plays golf with Morgan Wallen. I can’t get him on the phone.”

While the crowd may not have gotten to see Brady, they still enjoyed a performance of Bryan’s hits, from “I Don’t Want This Night to End” to “Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day.” His next tour stop is set for Thursday, Aug. 14 at Charleston Coliseum in Charleston, W.Va.

Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl Champion, was immortalized at Patriot Place Plaza on Saturday, Aug. 9, when the New England Patriots organization and CEO Robert Kraft unveiled the statue ahead of the team’s 2025 home game against the Washington Commanders.

“Right now, I feel extremely honored, deeply grateful and, if I’m being honest, kind of old,” Brady joked at the unveiling ceremony outside of the stadium, his home turf from 2000 to 2019.

“I’m also a little surprised because usually they don’t build statues until you’re really old… It’s not every day you get a statue, at least not one like this,” he continued. “Seeing myself as a statue isn’t something I could’ve ever imagined growing up. When I was drafted, I just hoped to make the team. I never dreamed I’d be standing here two-and-a-half decades later, made of bronze and frozen in time. It actually feels pretty appropriate, given my 40-yard dash time.”

“In the end, this statue isn’t just for Pats fans,” Brady later said. “It’ll also give Jets fans something to throw beers at as they leave the stadium every year. Probably in the second quarter. Maybe the third.”

According to the Patriots organization, the newest addition to Gillette Stadium makes Brady the first player in franchise history to earn the honor of having a bronze statue standing at the location. Per ESPN, the statue was created by a local sculptor and its granite base was quarried in Vermont.
