Lorde is going on the road!
On May 8, the New Zealand alt-pop star announced the Ultrasound World Tour, hitting arenas around the globe later this year in support of her upcoming album, Virgin.
Kicking off Sept. 17 at the Moody Center in Austin, the tour’s North American leg features stops in cities including Chicago, Nashville, Boston, Philadelphia, New York, St. Louis, Las Vegas and more before wrapping Oct. 22 in Seattle. She will then perform shows throughout Europe from November through December.

Opening acts Blood Orange, the Japanese House, Nilüfer Yanya, Chanel Beads, Empress Of, Jim-E Stack and Oklou will join Lorde for select shows throughout the run. “Very proud and excited to be bringing my most talented friends in support,” she said in a statement shared to her website.
“Come see what’s under the skin,” teased Lorde, who’s used x-ray imagery for both the tour poster and Virgin album cover.
Tickets first become available through a presale at the “Royals” singer’s website on May 14 at 10 a.m. local time before a general on-sale launches May 16 at 10 a.m. local time.

About a week after releasing her latest single “What Was That” on April 24, the Grammy winner announced Virgin, sharing both its album cover and a note to fans over email explaining the project.
“THE COLOUR OF THE ALBUM IS CLEAR. LIKE BATHWATER, WINDOWS, ICE, SPIT. FULL TRANSPARENCY,” Lorde began. “THE LANGUAGE IS PLAIN AND UNSENTIMENTAL. THE SOUNDS ARE THE SAME WHEREVER POSSIBLE.”
She continued: “I WAS TRYING TO SEE MYSELF, ALL THE WAY THROUGH. I WAS TRYING TO MAKE A DOCUMENT THAT REFLECTED MY FEMININITY: RAW, PRIMAL, INNOCENT, ELEGANT, OPENHEARTED, SPIRITUAL, MASC.”
“I’M PROUD AND SCARED OF THIS ALBUM,” said the “Green Light” artist. “THERE’S NOWHERE TO HIDE. I BELIEVE THAT PUTTING THE DEEPEST PARTS OF OURSELVES TO MUSIC IS WHAT SETS US FREE.”
