This morning, Loewe announced that Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez will be taking the reins as co-Creative Directors. The news comes a little over a month after the pair left
Proenza Schouler, the American label they founded together 23 years ago. It also comes exactly one week after Jonathan Anderson’s departure from the top job at the Spanish fashion house.

In a statement, the designers said, “We are very honored to join Loewe, a house whose values and mission align closely with our own.” They added, “We look forward to working alongside its extraordinary teams and artisans, whose talent–under the exceptional creative direction of Jonathan Anderson–has shaped Loewe into the cultural force it is today.” Sidney Toledano, chief executive of LVMH fashion group shared his excitement in a separate statement, explaining that he “has long admired Jack and Lazaro’s work at Proenza Schouler, their eclectic creativity and dedication to craft make them a natural choice to build the next chapter for Loewe.” He added, “I look forward to seeing them lead the evolution of the house.”

McCollough and Hernandez built one of the most successful American fashion labels of the last two decades, one that crystallized a moment—their PS1 bags and sharply designed, beautifully idiosyncratic clothing was beloved by style icons and everyday fashion fans alike. This is a major moment for them, not only as American designers helming a European fashion house, but to really use this newly elevated position (one that comes with incredible resources) to showcase their immense talents. Anderson will be missed at Loewe, but McCollough and Hernandez’s appointment promises a strong future for the label, one filled with possibilities.
