Liza Burnett Fefferman Exits as Executive VP and Head of Communications for Paramount Media Networks and MTV Entertainment Studios

Paramount and Viacom veteran Liza Burnett Fefferman has exited her post as executive VP and head of communications for Paramount Media Networks and Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios.

Fefferman had been a top lieutenant of Chris McCarthy, co-CEO of Paramount Global, who has also stepped down after a long run. The shuffles come as Paramount Global is set to be acquired formally by Skydance Media on Aug. 7.

A respected industry pro, Fefferman had a broad portfolio includes that encompassed studio production as well as communications for MTV, Comedy Central, Paramount Network, Smithsonian Channel, CMT, Pop TV, TV Land and Logo. She also founded and co-lead the MTV Documentary Films division for five years.

In a memo to her staff, Fefferman cited the rise of “Yellowstone” Taylor Sheridan as a mega producer and the MTV Documentary Films as highlights of her nine years at Paramount and Viacom.

“Together we’ve had the privilege of championing some of the company’s most significant milestones – helping to launch Paramount+, building the Taylor Sheridan universe, welcoming back both TV’s most beloved serial killer and everyone’s favorite late night host, as well as co-founding MTV Documentary Films with the one and only Sheila Nevins – all while doing good along the way,” she wrote.

Before coming to what was then Viacom in 2016, Fefferman worked in the film arena for Radius, Samuel Goldwyn Films and the Weinstein Co. She shepherded successful awards campaigns for documentaries “Citizenfour” and “20 Feet from Stardom” during her time at Radius.
