The Senate is set to dive into President Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” on Tuesday, as lawmakers in the upper chamber indicate they intend to make their mark on the sprawling legislation.

The measure narrowly passed the House before lawmakers in both chambers left for the Memorial Day recess, and any changes the Senate makes could upset the tenuous balance Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) struck to get it through his razor-thin majority.

Elsewhere, all eyes are on Russia and Ukraine after a series of escalating attacks from Moscow, a stunning response from Kyiv, and another round of peace talks Monday. Senators from both parties are itching to move a bill to impose harsh sanctions on Russia but GOP leaders are waiting for Trump’s green light.

And White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt is set to brief at 1 p.m.
