Some people might think pets don’t really “get it,” but when a 6-year-old sang “If You’re Happy and You Know It” to her cat, the animal knew exactly what to do.
In an adorable TikTok video that has gone viral, the child is captured singing alongside her black cat, Bebe. When the little girl sings, “If you’re happy and you know, say meow,” Bebe responds with a perfectly timed “meow.”
Kelly, the proud mom behind the viral clip, shares the story of this heartwarming interaction.
“It was just spontaneous,” Kelly exclusively tells PEOPLE. “We were out in the front yard, and my daughter loves to sing to her cats. She never expected Bebe to start chiming in, but he did — and we just went with it. It was so cute, I couldn’t even take it!”
The Internet quickly fell in love with the duo.
“A lot of people on TikTok were referring to my daughter as a Disney princess,” Kelly says with a laugh. “It makes total sense because Bebe follows her everywhere. Their dynamic is so fun to watch — he’s always right with her, whether she’s singing or just playing around.”

Bebe’s journey to viral fame is as touching as his newfound stardom. Once a stray, Bebe was taken in by Kelly’s family through their informal rescue initiative, Cloudy’s Cat Cottage.

“We’re not an official organization or anything — we just try to help out strays in our community,” Kelly explains.
Bebe was their most recent rescue and quickly made himself at home. “From the first night he stayed with us, he knew exactly where he was meant to be. He’s king of the cottage now,” Kelly continues.
At around 7 months old, Bebe has already become an integral part of the family’s life on their small farm. “He’s extremely smart — he knows his name and comes when called,” Kelly shares. “He loved crawling into our laps and making biscuits — it’s like he knows he’s finally safe.”

Bebe’s bond with Kelly’s daughter is particularly special. “She has always had a passion for animals,” Kelly says proudly. “Even as a baby, one of her first words was ‘cat.’ She converted me — I grew up with dogs and never realized how amazing cats could be until I had one.”

For Kelly, sharing this video has been touching, as many have resonated with the unconditional love and connection from an animal.

And as a mom, seeing her daughter shine in such an unexpected way is deeply meaningful, too. “I’m always proud of my little girl,” she says warmly. “She inspires me every day to be a better person. Even though I’m an adult, I learn from her constantly.”
