The news continues to be good regarding Lions cornerback Morice Norris Jr., who left the field in an ambulance in Friday’s preseason game in Atlanta.

On Monday, Detroit head coach Dan Campbell said Norris is “doing well” and will be in concussion protocol for the next couple of weeks.

“Mo’s back with us. He’s doing well,” Campbell told reporters. “You know, it’s good to have him back. And you know, he’s good.”

On the first play of the fourth quarter Friday, Falcons running back Nathan Carter took a handoff and got into the Detroit secondary. As Norris went in for the tackle, Carter’s right knee hit him in the head. The second-year player immediately went to the turf as trainers rushed onto the field.

Norris, 24, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, a Level 1 trauma center in Atlanta, for observation. The team later announced that he was in stable condition with feeling and movement in all his extremities.

After the scary injury, Campbell and his Atlanta counterpart, Raheem Morris, agreed to end the game. The Lions won 17-10.

Norris had posted a positive update on social media on Saturday, writing on Instagram, “Amen Amen. I’m all good man don’t stress it appreciate all the check ins and love.” A Lions-blue heart emoji and a bible verse followed.

Campbell said the team will be cautious with Norris during his recovery.

“We’re going to take it nice and easy here and make sure he’s good over the next, you know, call it 10 to 14 days and reassess,” he said. “So that’s good news.”

Norris appeared in two games for the Lions in 2024 after signing as an undrafted free agent from Fresno State. He played one snap on defense and 32 on special teams.
