It’s generally unheard of for a celebrity to attend the Met Gala and not walk the red carpet. And yet, that’s exactly what this Oscar winner did. Leonardo DiCaprio attended the 2025 Met Gala with his girlfriend of 2 years, Vittoria Ceretti—he just didn’t want us to know about it!
While Vittoria walked up the Met steps in a Moncler x EE72 dress, Leo snuck into the event without posing for photos. The Gala is famously a no-photos allowed event—hence the annual Met bathroom selfies—but a camera did manage to find the actor. Vogue broke the news of Leo’s surprise attendance on Wednesday, sharing a photo of him inside the museum, walking a couple feet from Vittoria. He’s doing his best to shield his face from the camera, but there’s no mistaking that jawline. Better luck next time, Leo!
According to the magazine, this was the actor’s first time attending the Met Gala, but given his desire for privacy, it’s possible he’s been before and has simply never been spotted. Or maybe he’s attended all these years and refused to be photographed until now. He did, after all, attend Teyana Taylor’s pre-Met party in 2024—with Vittoria, of course.
Even if Leonardo had wanted to walk the red carpet at the Met Gala, he and Vittoria would probably have chosen to walk separately—Rihanna and A$AP Rocky style. Leo has always been on the private side when it comes to relationships, and in an interview published earlier this year, Vittoria made it clear that she didn’t want to be known for who she’s dating.
“As soon as you’re in a relationship with someone who has a larger following than you, you become ‘girlfriend of’—or ‘boyfriend of,’ for that matter,” she told Vogue France. “And that can be extremely annoying. Suddenly people are talking about you as so-and-so’s girlfriend who was so-and-so’s ex.”
In that same interview, Vittoria was asked what it was like to date one of the most desirable men in the world. She responded, “If you know you love each other, then there’s no reason to be alarmed. Because love protects and gives confidence.” With an answer like that, who knows, maybe we’ll see Vittoria on the next Oscars red carpet!
