On Monday, May 12, Dunham, 39, stepped out for a red carpet appearance while debuting a much longer and darker hairstyle. She attended a screening of Pee-wee As Himself at the Museum of Modern Art.
Dunham traded her super-short, light brown locks for jet-black, long tresses at the special screening. For the occasion, she rocked a Pee-Wee T-shirt with a dark brown and black striped jacket and matching pants. She finished the look with red lipstick and bold eyeliner, accessorizing with necklaces, rings and earrings.
Dunham also rocked dramatic makeup with black eyeliner and ruby red lipstick for a goth appearance as she added earrings, rings and several necklaces.

For comparison, here’s how fans are used to seeing Dunham.
Since Girls ended in 2017, Dunham has taken a step back from the spotlight (at least in front of the camera) amid relentless body-shaming. She opted to cast Meg Stalter as the star of her upcoming Netflix series Too Much instead of taking on the role herself.
“I was not willing to have another experience like what I’d experienced around Girls at this point in my life,” Dunham told The New Yorker.
