Aerosmith officially retired from touring in 2024 after singer Steven Tyler suffered a serious injury to his vocal cords. However, the band continues to reach new milestones and even put in a rare performance in recent days.

On Wednesday, May 7, the band’s official Instagram account shared a photo of Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry holding up a plaque from Spotify certifying that the band’s 1988 hit single “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” has hit the 1 billion streams mark on the service.

“‘I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing’ hit 1 BILLION streams on @spotify! Thank you #BlueArmy. We couldn’t have done it without you,” the caption reads.

This comes just a week after Tyler and Perry reunited for the first time since 2023 for a special performance in San Francisco benefiting Tyler’s Janie’s Fund, which helps girls who have suffered trauma and abuse. The all-star performance also featured Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson, Cheap Trick singer Robin Zander, former Guns N’ Roses drummer Matt Sorum and others. The band’s and Perry’s Instagram account shared a photo of the Tyler and guitarist posing in front of a private jet the day after the show.

While Tyler was able to perform at the one-off show, it appears that touring is still out of the question for him, so Perry has assembled a new all-star version of his side band, the Joe Perry Project, for live dates on the East Coast in August.

The band includes fellow Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford and the band’s touring keyboardist Buck Johnson, Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson and Stone Temple Pilots rhythm section Robert DeLeo and Eric Kretz.
