Legendary Country Star, 42, Reveals Painful Reason Behind That Viral Onstage Dental Mishap originally appeared on Parade.

LeAnn Rimes suffered what could only be described as a dental malfunction in the middle of a live performance in late June, and her teeth fell out as she was singing. Now, the country star has opened up about what led to the mishap.

When Rimes was 16 she got dental veneers, but when the “How Do I Live” singer had them redone, she explained that the dentist didn’t bond them correctly. This caused a multitude of problems and over the years she was forced to undergo several oral surgeries and root canals.

“I look at my pictures from that time, and my face was so different – it was just so swollen,” Rimes said in an interview with The Flow Space published on July 8. “Oh, it was awful. I was in chronic pain for, like, two-and-a-half years.”

Fans who attended Rimes’ show at the Skagit Casino Resort in Washington on June 20 saw the Grammy winner stop in the middle of her song “One Way Ticket” and run off stage. She explained that her front dental bridge had fallen out and she had to rush backstage to fix it before continuing the concert.

“We’re going to do a little story time about how the show must go on, and this is the most epic example of how the show must go on,” Rimes said the following day when she addressed the incident in a video posted to Instagram. “So last night, I was on stage in the middle of ‘One Way Ticket.’ I feel something pop in my mouth. And if you’ve been around, you know I’ve had a lot of dental surgeries, and I have a bridge in the front. It fell out in the middle of my song last night.”

Even though she “ran to the side of the stage and put it back in,” it was only a temporary fix. However, Rimes still managed to laugh about the moment.

“For the rest of the show, I was literally … pushing my teeth in every couple lines and singing, which, by the way, I never knew how many F’s and Th’s and Sh’s I have in my songs!”
