Legendary ’80s Boy Band to Re-Release Iconic Album With New Tracks—35 Years Later originally appeared on Parade.
Beloved 1990s boy band New Kids on the Block kicked off Good Morning America’s 2025 Summer Concert Series Friday morning, and they brought all the stops.
The multi-platinum group—Jonathan and Jordan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, and Danny Wood—performed fan favorites including “You Got It (The Right Stuff)” and “Step by Step,” the title track from their 1990 smash-hit album.
During a short interview segment, the band also teased their upcoming Las Vegas residency, “The Right Stuff,” which opens June 20 at the Park MGM casino.
Not to mention, their iconic album Step by Step is getting a major refresh: a 35th anniversary special edition featuring bonus material, unreleased tracks, and remixes drops tomorrow, June 13, across digital, CD, and vinyl formats.
As they gear up for this new chapter in Vegas, NKOTB continue to show that their bond with fans hasn’t missed a beat. When asked what they want their legacy to be, Wahlberg answered for the group:
“Just that we gave our all to the people who gave us their all — and that’s them, that’s the fans,” he said while pointing to a crowd of screaming Blockheads.
During and after their GMA performance, some longtime Blockheads were in full emotional mode.
“New Kids on the Block on GMA was so amazing,” one fan wrote on X. “They picked the perfect day to perform, on the last day being in Times Square. Sad as it may be, what a memorable send-off. So proud of my Forever Loves.”
“17 year old me… is so excited to see New Kids on the Block on GMA this morning… except if I was 17 I’d be down in Time Square seeing it not watching it on TV,” another added.
Others took a more, let’s say, playful approach.
“New Kids On The Block looking like the uncles from out of town?” one user joked.
“New Kids on the Block ought to be called Old Guys that Belong in a Home,” quipped another.
There was even some international frustration: “What happened to New Kids on the Block been waiting in the uk for them to come up on here,” one UK-based Blockhead posted.
No question that the Blockhead love runs deep. As one fan simply put it: “i love new kids on the block so baddd.”
