LeBron James couldn’t get enough of his wife Savannah’s look at the 2025 Met Gala.
Hours after cancelling his own appearance at the event on Monday, May 5, James couldn’t help but show off how fabulous his wife looked on the carpet in New York City.
The Lakers star, 40, posted 12 different photos of Savannah, 38, to his Instagram Stories on Monday night. In the first, LeBron added a handful of heart and heart-eye emojis over a video of Savannah posing on the carpet.
For her look, Savannah wore a burgundy suiting-inspired gown by Hanifa, consisting of a pinstripe jacket with exposed boning and full mermaid-style skirt — channeling the night’s “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme and “Tailored for You” dress code.

Hours before stars took the red carpet, LeBron, who was named an honorary chair back in October, announced on social media that he’d be missing the event due to an injury he suffered during the NBA playoffs. “Unfortunately because of my knee injury I sustained at the end of the season I won’t be able to attend the Met Gala in NY tonight as so many people have been asking and congratulating me on! Hate to miss an historical event!” he wrote on X on Monday.
“My beautiful powerful Queen will be there holding the castle down as she always has done,” LeBron added to the statement.

LeBron’s cancellation at the Met Gala comes just after the basketball star said he needed to consult his family and his “support group” regarding his future in the NBA.
Asked for his thoughts on a potential retirement after the Lakers’ elimination last month, LeBron said he didn’t “have an answer” at the time. “Something I’ll sit down with my family, my wife and my support group, have conversations with myself on how long I want to continue to play. We’ll see.”
