When Anna Sawai made her Met Gala debut earlier this month, she probably didn’t expect to be wearing almost the exact same outfit as Met Gala pro, Zendaya. The two walked up the Met Gala steps hours apart, wearing eerily similar white suits and wide brimmed hats. And, apparently, they were just fine with the accidental twinning. Speaking a week after the Met, Zendaya’s stylist and collaborator Law Roach revealed that there were no hard feelings between the two, adding that Zendaya even sent Anna flowers.
“People thought that there was some type of disappointment on our end,” Law Roach said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, adding that nothing could be further from the truth. “Her stylist, Karla Welch, and I are very friendly, we’ve known each other for years,” he said. “Karla and I talked, Zendaya sent Anna flowers, you know, because it was her first Met.”
He continued, saying that he was disappointed to see people trying to pin him against Karla and Zendaya against Anna. “They both looked great and they’re both beautiful women,” he said.

Law Roach previously reacted to Anna’s look on the Met steps. He was doing interviews when the Shogun actor arrived, and seemed surprised. “I’m dying ’cause she’s got on Zendaya’s look,” he said. “I’m so glad we came early.” Zendaya has yet to comment.
Anna, meanwhile, has taken it all in stride, posting on her Instagram stories that her look was “celebrating the spirit of black dandyism and Zendaya.” She later shared a complete breakdown of her custom Dior look, and had a message to anyone criticizing her or her stylist for the mixup. “I know a lot of people have a lot to say, and trust me, I admire her too 🤣🤍 But most importantly, I’m so happy with my look, so please be happy for me too,” she wrote in the caption.

For the record: Zendaya and Anna’s white Met Gala looks might have seemed identical, but they were actually more like fraternal twins. Zendaya’s Louis Vuitton suit had a flared pant and vest, while Anna’s had more of a straight leg. And, other than the hat, they had entirely different accessories. The difference is in the details, and I am personally a fan of both.
