Law & Order: Special Victims Unit fans finally got the big update they were waiting for, as cast member Ice-T revealed that filming for Season 27 officially started.

The actor, who plays Sergeant Odafin Tutuola in the series, took to Instagram to share the major news, posting a photo of himself from the show as he wrote, “💥SVU FANS💥 Season 27 of SVU starts filming today! We’re back! @wolfentertainment #SVU27.”

Ice-T’s photo appeared to be an older still from Law & Order: SVU, but that didn’t stop the excitement as fans raved about the start of filming.

“Yes and yes 👏 the best news,” wrote one fan of the NBC show, while more reacted to the update with ecstatic comments like, “So ready, Welcome back Squad!! Fall can’t come fast enough 👏,” and “Thank God!!!!!! 😍😍😍.”

Another hyped fan replied to Ice-T’s post with the note, “Yessss! 😍Been waiting for this announcement! I’m so beyond excited and so grateful to all the cast and crew! Bring on season 27! 💜✨.”

Soon after Ice-T’s update, co-star Mariska Hargitay shared a behind-the-scenes clip from set with fans to mark the occasion.

NBC has not shared an official premiere date for Season 27 of Law & Order: SVU, but it will likely be this fall, as is usually the case. Almost all of the seasons started in late September, although there have been a few exceptions.
