The Las Vegas Aces will travel to Minneapolis to take on the top-ranked Minnesota Lynx without three-time WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson, who is set to miss her third consecutive game in concussion protocol.
Wilson was injured on June 11 during the Aces’ 97-89 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks after she was struck in the face while attempting to defend Dearica Hamby under the basket. Wilson exited the contest late in the third quarter and was later put in concussion protocol, where she remains.
Without Wilson in the lineup, the Aces are without their leader in points (20.9), rebounds (9.6), blocks (2.6) and steals (2.0) per game. Las Vegas has gone 1-1 in Wilson’s absence, defeating the Dallas Wings on June 13 and losing to the Phoenix Mercury on June 15.
Las Vegas (5-5) will face one of its biggest challenges of the season against the Lynx. Minnesota (10-1) currently sits atop the WNBA standings after opening the season with nine consecutive wins. The Lynx suffered their first loss to the Seattle Storm on June 11, but bounced back with a blowout win against the Sparks on June 14. Naphessa Collier, who finished second in 2024 WNBA MVP voting behind Wilson, leads the league in scoring (26.1 points).
