Lana Del Rey is letting her lyrics speak for themselves — no matter how badly fans want the juicy details.
The “Summertime Sadness” singer recently piqued the interest of her fanbase while debuting a new song at the Stagecoach Festival on Friday. The surprise comes during the bridge of “57.5,” a lyrical confession in which Del Rey claims that she once locked lips with a certain controversial country star.
“This is the last time I’m ever going to say this line,” Del Rey prefaced the lyric, before singing: “I kissed Morgan Wallen / I guess kissing me kind of went to his head.”
The reaction was loud and immediate: footage of the event sees the crowd roaring at the Wallen name-drop, quieting just enough to hear the next words in the verse.
“If you want my secret to success,” Del Rey sang. “I suggest don’t go ATVing with him when you’re out west.”

Later in the song, Del Rey makes reference to husband Jeremy Dufrene, whom she wed in September 2024.
While the first two choruses included the line, “I ain’t got a man, but baby one of them is a fan of mine,” the final chorus adjusts the lyric to: “Now I got a man, he really was a fan of mine.”
While it’s unclear when — or if — Del Rey and Wallen’s romance took place, the singer has been linked to Dufrene since 2019.
Wallen has not publicly responded to the lyrics as of Monday. Representatives for the singer did not immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly‘s request for comment.
The song, “57.5,” takes its title from a repeated lyric that sees Del Rey sing about having “57.5 million listeners on Spotify.” This is perhaps a hint to when she wrote the song, as Del Rey now boasts over 62.3 million monthly listeners on the music streaming platform.
In the aftermath of the performance, Del Rey offered no further explanation regarding her decision to not use the lyric in the future.
Earlier this year, Wallen stirred controversy with an appearance on Saturday Night Live that saw him abruptly exit the stage during the show’s goodnights segment. He later posted a photo of a private jet to his Instagram Stories, captioning it, “Get me to God’s country.”

The move earned him criticism from viewers, social media users, and even SNL cast members who poked fun at the viral moment in later episodes. Prior to that, Wallen made headlines with a 2020 Nashville arrest for public intoxication and disorderly conduct. (Prosecutors later abandoned the charges.)
He next stoked controversy a year later, when he was captured on video using the N-word to describe a friend. The clip led to the suspension of his record label contract, removal of his music from radio airplay, and disqualification from the 2021 Academy of Country Music Awards. Wallen was also arrested in 2024 for throwing a chair off a rooftop bar onto the ground below, to which he later pleaded guilty.
