“[My wife Bianca Dusic] read it. She was part of the whole process of when I was doing chapters and editing came in,” Kish tells Parade. “My parents read it before it went out. They read it after any changes could be made, so I was just giving them a gracious heads up. Everyone was really proud. It’s my story, and my wife knows everything about it that’s in there, anyway.”
She adds: “It’s been a wild ride. So much of all the things that have happened in my life — the way that I think, the way that I see things, the way that I am, it was all kicked off by experiencing Top Chef. Like, it was a life-changing moment. It changed the way I think. It challenged me in ways that I never knew that I could be challenged, which really kicked off, I think, a lot of growth that I didn’t think I had in me. “
Kish, who previously won Season 10 of the long-running cooking competition show, was announced as the new host of Season 21 after longtime host Padma Lakshmi‘s exit in June 2023.

“Top Chef is where I started my journey — first as a competing chef, then a guest judge, and now as host, I have the honor of helping to continue to build this brand,” Kish said at the time. “I’m thrilled to sit alongside Gail [Simmons] and Tom [Colicchio] as we get to know new incredible chefs and see what they cook up. It feels like coming home.”
The show is currently in Season 22.
