Kourtney Kardashian Barker joined her sister Khloé Kardashian on the May 21 episode of her podcast Khloé in Wonder Land and got candid about her relationship with stepdad Caitlyn Jenner during her younger years as she and Khloé discussed stepparenting
While Khloé said she “appreciated and respected” Caitlyn, who was married to Kris Jenner from 1991 to 2013, for never trying to replace their dad, Kourtney disagreed
Kourtney said she was “super grateful” that her younger sister’s experience with Caitlyn was better than hers
Things were not always smooth in the Kardashian-Jenner household between Kourtney Kardashian Barker and Caitlyn Jenner.
Kourtney joined her sister Khloé on the May 21 episode of her podcast, Khloé in Wonder Land. As they discussed her role as a stepmother to her husband Travis Barker’s three kids, Kourtney also spoke candidly about her own experiences with Caitlyn as a stepdad.
After Khloé, 40, said she respected her sister for “knowing” that her role is “not to be the disciplinary” for Travis’ kids, Atiana, 26, Landon, 21, and Alabama, 19, the Khloud popcorn founder said that understanding the balance was something that Caitlyn “did with us so well.”
“[Caitlyn] never tried to be Dad and I always appreciated and respected that,” Khloé said, referring to how things were balanced between their stepdad and their father Robert Kardashian Sr. — but Kourtney quickly disagreed.
“Okay, so, that wasn’t my experience, but maybe that’s why it became your experience,” Kourtney, 46, said. “So [I’m] grateful for that for you.”
Instead, Kourtney said that she felt like Caitlyn — who was married to their mom Kris Jenner from 1991 to 2013 — “tried to be controlling and bossy” during her childhood and used to “tell me certain friends can’t come over.”
The revelation connected some dots for Khloé on why her older sister “didn’t connect” with Caitlyn as she admitted she thought it because Kourtney “didn’t like” their stepfather because “he was replacing Dad – not that he did, no one could replace Dad.”
Kourtney said it was “so weird” that Khloé had such a different experience with Caitlyn, 75, and then recalled another negative interaction she had with the olympian.

“I would be like, ‘I wanna call my Dad,’ and [Caitlyn] would hang up the phone,” Kourtney said. “We would have yelling wars.”
Kourtney also said that her disconnect with Caitlyn was the reason she moved in with their dad, which shocked Khloé too.
