Kirk Medas has died at age 33.

The reality star, who was part of the cast of MTV’s Jersey Shore successor Floribama Shore for all four of its seasons, died on Friday, a spokesperson for MTV confirmed to Entertainment Weekly.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Kirk Medas, a beloved member of the Floribama Shore family,” the spokesperson said in a statement. “Our hearts go out to his family, friends and fans during this difficult time.”

A spokesperson for the show’s production company, 495 Productions, also shared a statement memorializing Medas.

“We are heartbroken over the passing of Kirk Medas, a beloved member of our Floribama Shore family,” the statement began. “Kirk brought light, laughter, and loyalty to every moment — both on screen and off. He was more than a cast member; he was family.”

The statement continued, “Our hearts are with his loved ones, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. We will forever cherish the joy and memories he gave us.”

Medas’ family established a GoFundMe campaign on Thursday to raise funds for Medas’ medical treatment, explaining that the reality star was being treated in the ICU fighting necrotizing pancreatitis. The GoFundMe description has been updated to include “Funeral Arrangement.”

A number of Medas’ former Floribama Shore costars paid tribute on social media, both after the reality star died and as they rallied to raise funds for his recovery.

Codi Butts shared a photo of himself with Medas in a swimming pool with a heartfelt message to his late costar on Instagram.

“This is my favorite picture of me and me and Kirk,” he wrote. “I love you so much. It is with a heavy heart I have to say goodbye to my best friend.”

Butts continued: “My heart is absolutely broken. I wish this was a bad dream that I could just wake up from. Thank you Kirk for giving me some of the best years of my life. You have made me a better person. I will forever love you and cherish our friendship!”
