Fashion’s biggest night, and Kim Kardashian’s favorite event of the year, is finally here. And the belle of the ball went all out—as per usual.
Kardashian landed on the carpeted steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a black leather getup courtesy of Chrome Hearts. The ensemble was a play on the Western trend that has been dominating the streets, the concerts stages, and the runways this year amid Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour.
Kardashian’s look consisted of a black croc-embossed leather vest-like top and a matching body-hugging floor-length skirt that extended into a long train. The off-the-shoulder top had a sculptural detail on one shoulder, and a partly open back held together by a belt.
Strings of white pearls dangled from the front to the back of the skirt, and the reality star finished the look with a tall black cowgirl hat that covered her face at most angles, plus layers and layers of diamonds: drop earrings, several necklaces, and some rings.
The Skims founder has become a Met Gala staple ever since she first attended in 2013 with then-husband Kanye West, while she was pregnant with their oldest child, daughter North West. Kardashian then wore a body-hugging floral gown by Givenchy.
In the years since, Kardashian has made the Met’s red carpet her own, and in 2022, she even wore Marilyn Monroe’s iconic 1962 Golden Globes dress—which she pulled from the deepest archives. (She attended the event with then-boyfriend Pete Davidson.)
At the 2023 gala honoring the late Karl Lagerfeld, Kardashian wore an extravagant Schiaparelli dress made entirely of strands of pearls and a corset bodice—it was reminiscent of the pearl look she wore on her 2007 Playboy cover. (She attended the event with daughter North.)
And in 2024, Kardashian opted for an incredibly body-cinching metallic silver dress from Maison Margiela. The gown had floral cutouts all over, and the Kardashians star paired it with a little gray cardigan.
