The Met Gala drama started for Kim Kardashian before she even hit the carpet.
In a video shared on TikTok by a bystander waiting outside of The Mark Hotel, the reality television star, 44, could be seen having an awkward moment with a security guard who accidentally tripped over the train of her dress. The clip shows the SKIMS founder looking back at the guard while holding out her hand to support him as he took a slight tumble.
Although Kardashian’s wide-brim hat covered a portion of her face, she seemed to keep a stoic expression as she brushed off the blip with a flip of her hair.
Kardashian was accompanied by her daughter North West, 11, who didn’t actually make it inside the Met, but changed into a cool cow-print outfit for her departure from The Mark. The tween also showed off her look on TikTok, posting plenty of behind-the-scenes content of her and her mom.

Later in the night, Kardashian walked the carpet seemingly without a hitch, putting all of her focus into flaunting her Chrome Hearts leather two-piece, which featured a backless crocodile-print corset top and low-dipping skirt (and yes, she got an assist with the train inside).
This year’s Met Gala theme was “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” with the dress code being “Tailored for You.” Kardashian’s sisters, Kylie and Kendall Jenner, attended too, dressed in Ferragamo and Givenchy, respectively.

Kardashian has faced a Met wardrobe blip before. In 2023, she wore a Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown created with more than 50,000 freshwater pearls and 16,000 crystal pearls — and it was as risky as it sounds. After attending the star-studded event, Kardashian made her way back to the hotel by car, but when she exited the vehicle, a few strings of pearls towards the bottom of the garment came undone.
She also caused quite the stir in 2022 after she infamously slipped into one of Marilyn Monroe’s dresses from 1962, which appeared to have some damage at the seams following Kardashian’s wear. But it was later confirmed by Ripley’s Believe It or Not! (where she had sourced the artifact) that she had nothing to do with the incident.
In an episode of The Kardashians, the mom of four said she had tried “everything” to fit into the dress, which was worn by Monroe in the 1960s to serenade then-president John F. Kennedy on his 45th birthday.
