It’s been 12 years since Kieran Culkin and Jazz Charton said “I do” on a rainy road trip in Iowa.
On Sunday, June 22, the Succession star, 42, and writer, 37, celebrated 12 years of marriage. Culkin does not have social media, but Charton, who does, shared a simple and sweet Instagram post commemorating the milestone.
Charton shared two photos from the couple’s 2013 roadside nuptials. In both shots, the duo holds hands in an open field, their heads turned away from the camera. For the Iowa elopement, she wore a white dress and adorned her hair with matching flowers, while Culkin wore a simple black suit.
“12 years 💍,” she captioned the milestone post.
Several users shared their well-wishes for the couple in the comments, including writer’s mom, Coco, who wrote, “Best decision ever to elope! And here’s to another 70 years of wedded bliss at least🍾🥂❤️🎉❤️🎉❤️ Miss you all an awful lot!”
In the years since their 2013 elopement, Charton has shared details and photos from the special day on social media.
In a 2017 Instagram post, she shared a different snapshot of the low-key, roadside ceremony and wrote, “#tbt to taking time out of our road trip to get married by the side of the road in Iowa during a storm 4 years ago today. Still the best pit stop I’ve ever made.”
Charton shared yet another glimpse into the special day in a 2020 post, plus some insight into how the couple’s love blossomed during their early days together.

“7 years ago we went on what was supposed to be a 6 week road trip but ended up taking 3 1/2 months,” she wrote on Instagram. “7 years ago we fell in love with Iowa. 7 years ago we met a girl named Kinsey who helped us get our marriage license and 7 years ago today we said I do in the rain with 3 strangers.”

A year before the Oscar winner and writer tied the knot — and long before they welcomed their two kids, daughter Kinsey Sioux, 5, and son Wilder Wolf, 3 — the couple first crossed paths in a bar in New York City.

Recalling the N.Y.C. meet-cute to The Hollywood Reporter years later, Culkin said he approached Charton, and “said, ‘I’m Kieran. You have an English accent. What’s your name?’ She said, ‘Jazz.’ I said, ‘J-A-Z-Z, like the music?’ And she said, ‘Yeah.’ And I said, ‘Well, that’s f—— stupid.’ “
And, the actor previously revealed to iNews in 2018, his first meeting with Charton was almost thwarted by another man she was with that night.
Culkin waited until the other man left to go to the bathroom and went in to take his seat, he told the outlet.
“I asked if he was her boyfriend and when she said no, I asked if I could be her boyfriend,” he said. “We’ve been together ever since.”
