Khloé Kardashian is Keeping Up with what health-conscious fans are craving.
The reality star, 40, is launching Khloud Protein Popcorn, a seed-oil free snack that contains more than three times the amount of protein than regular popcorn, a supply for the demand from consumers for more protein-forward snack options.
“I’m at this stage in my [health] journey for the past few years that I’ve been really trying to up my protein intake. I’m all about muscle definition and being strong and healthy, not just skinny,” Kardashian, the self-proclaimed snacker, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “Protein wise, I’m not someone that is going to sit down and have steak and eggs all day long, and I need to consume protein. I was going to fitness stores to get protein, grab and go. And they don’t taste very well, in my opinion, and they’re filled with so much filler and artificial stuff. And I really just wanted something, selfishly, that tasted great, that didn’t have a ton of ingredients in it, that I could [fulfill] my protein intake [with].”
Khloud comes in three flavors — Olive Oil & Sea Salt, Sweet & Salty Kettle Corrn and White Cheddar — all of which are seed-oil free, non-GMO, gluten-free, kosher and contain 7 grams of complete protein per serving.

The added protein comes in the form of what Kardashian calls “Khloud dust”, a powdery substance made of a blend of milk proteins and seasonings.
Kardashian says that she went the popcorn route because she sees it as a very nostalgic and universally loved snack, something that was important to her and her palate.
“I love a kid’s menu. I am never going to get rid of that,” the Good American founder laughs. “II don’t have some refined taste palette, I really don’. I wish I did, just to admit that I had that, but I think I’ll always be a snacker. I just want to feel good about the things I’m eating.”

Kardashian, who is a mother to daughter True, 7, and son Tatum, 2, who she shares with ex Tristan Thompson, explained that her desire to create a healthy snack option was also derived from her role as a mother and her frustration with finding snacks for her children that are both healthy and clean.
“I’m disappointed in so much of the food industry these days, and for me, it’s very overwhelming to sometimes pack lunches for my kids or even know what I want, and this is just the very start of what I hope Khloud will be,” Kardashian explains. “What I really pray comes of [Khloud] is a trusting relationship. It’s not just for kids, but for my kids. I’ve given them a lot of foods. I’m going to sound very corny, but I’ve given them products … that I trusted and then you look into it, and you’re like, ‘Wait, this is just as bad as [an unhealthy] product.’”
The Good American co-founder also explained that having children has influenced her own health journey and her decisions about what she’s consuming and putting into her own body.

“I’m sure I drank water before kids, but I don’t think I ever monitored my hydration and my water intake. I used to make so much fun of [my sister] Kourtney for the ‘no plastics’ but she was just ahead of her time,” Kardashian jokes. “Then when you have kids, you’re like, ‘Okay, I have to stay alive forever, so let me control what I can.’ And so much of that is our health, and it is in our kitchen. We can only take control over so much, not everything. But when you do have kids, I think it’s a different sort of wake up call that you want to make certain lifestyle changes.”

Kardashian says that she’s a “salty, crunchy” snacker, and that loves having popcorn as an option to keep in her purse when she’s on-the-go because it stops her from feeling too full when she’s snacking in the middle of the day — especially when she’s hangry.
Though Khloud is only offering popcorn right now, the reality star is open to seeing where she can go in the snack world.
“This is just the very start of what I hope Khloud will be. And I do want this to be a brand that people feel safe with and trust, and I want to really live up to that,” she says.
Khloud Protein Popcorn will be available at Target stores across the country, Target.com, and khloudfoods.com starting April 29, with more national retailers coming soon.
