During her conversation with Lewinsky, she admitted she’s tried the popular salmon sperm skin treatment
She explained that the viral procedure is “like a Korean trick”
Kesha is opening up about her skin secrets.
On July 8, the Grammy-nominated singer, 38, appeared on Monica Lewinsky’s podcast, Reclaiming with Monica Lewinsky, where she chatted about her relationship with her mother, career and briefly mentioned her beauty regimen.
As the pair chatted, Kesha recalled how her mother kept the placenta from the singer’s birth with her, leading Kesha to have a necklace that holds her placenta. Lewinsky, 51, then remarked that people in the United Kingdom and France have the placenta put away, and some would have it injected into themselves for “energy” and keep a youthful appearance.
“I haven’t done that yet,” Lewinsky said, before adding, “Like salmon DNA in your face. I haven’t done that.”
But Kesha quickly interjected to say, “I put the salmon DNA in my face.”
“Oh, you did?” Lewinsky replied. “Did you like it? Well, your skin is gorgeous.”
“Thank you. I can thank the salmon sperm,” Kesha said through a bout of laughter. “It’s like a Korean trick.”

Dr. Gabriel Chiu, founder of Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery, told Variety that the process involves injecting Rejuran (a long-chain polynucleotide DNA of salmon milt) in microdroplets under the skin of the face and neck. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is another key ingredient.
According to Dr. Chiu, its benefits include “improved elasticity, reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, increased skin hydration and improved healing capabilities of the skin from damage like acne scars and UV exposure.” It can also help shrink pores and promote the production of collagen.

Kesha isn’t the only celebrity to publicly share that they dabbled with the salmon sperm procedure. Earlier this summer, Miley Cyrus revealed during a surprise performance at Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle Hotel in New York City on Monday, June 2, that she has had the same procedure.
“I tried that salmon sperm,” she shared. “Have you heard about that? I tried it.”
“Tastes strange, but my skin looks good,” Cyrus added before clarifying, “I didn’t mean to drink it. It’s just like a whole mask.”
The Disney Channel alum then joked, “I never met the salmon. It came pre-packaged. I don’t even know if it is what it says it is. I don’t know, but I do feel like my skin’s looking good.”
Ahead of the two musicians’ revelations, sisters Kim and Khloé Kardashian have opened up about incorporating salmon sperm into their skincare routines. More recently, on the March 20 episode of The Kardashians, Khloé, 40, made the revelation while chatting with her glam team during a shoot for her new fragrance. However, she also shared that she draws the line at certain sea creatures.
“I’m never gonna do whale sperm,” she quipped.
Just over a year prior, her sister Kim, 44, also revealed during a different episode of The Kardashians that she received the procedure.
“I got a salmon sperm facial with salmon sperm injected into my face,” Kim revealed to her mom, Kris Jenner, while the family was shooting their promos for the Hulu show.

The procedure made headlines in August 2023, when Jennifer Aniston admitted to WSJ. Magazine, in which an aesthetician put her on the salmon sperm facials. “First of all, I said, ‘Are you serious? How do you get salmon’s sperm?’ ” Aniston recalled in the interview.
A couple of short months later, Aniston, 56, appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Oct. 3, and spoke about the results of the viral skincare treatment. “Let me explain to you, it’s not like, how do you get sperm out of a salmon,” she said, noting that, at the time, the whole process was “unclear” to her. She just took the facialist’s “word” and was, “like, ‘sure.’”
“But don’t I look like a salmon? Don’t I have beautiful salmon skin?” Aniston joked.
