Katy Perry is committed to fostering a positive co-parenting relationship with Orlando Bloom.
After news of her split from the Lord of the Rings star, 48, went public on Thursday, June 26, a source tells PEOPLE that the “Teenage Dream” singer, 40, is focused on creating a positive co-parenting environment for her 4-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove.
“Katy has every intention of maintaining a positive and respectful relationship with Orlando,” a source tells PEOPLE. “He’s the father of their daughter and that will always come first for her.”
“They’ve been through a lot together and while they’ve decided to go their separate ways, there’s still a mutual respect between them. They’re still very much in touch and co-parenting Daisy together. For the sake of their daughter, they’re committed to keeping things amicable.”

Bloom is also dad to son Flynn, 14, whom he shares with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.
Another source recently told PEOPLE that Bloom and his daughter spent some time together in Australia before news of his split from Perry went public.
“They had special dad and daughter time,” the insider said of Bloom’s trip to Australia with Daisy, who was there with Perry while the singer was performing during her Lifetimes tour.
“Daisy’s very cute. Orlando was in a great mood and made every outing fun for her,” they continued. “He looked like a very caring dad.”
On June 26, PEOPLE confirmed that Bloom and Perry had gone their separate ways.
The couple got engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2019 when Bloom got down on one knee, Perry revealed during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

The couple then announced that they were expecting a baby in the singer’s music video for “Never Worn White” in March 2020. In August of that year, the couple welcomed their baby girl, Daisy Dove.
A year later, Perry told PEOPLE that motherhood was “just the best in the world. It’s the game-changer.” She added, “My heart is so full, finally.”
Shortly before Bloom and Perry officially called off their engagement, a source told PEOPLE that things between the two hadn’t been solid for a while.
“They’re pretty much done,” a source said at the time, adding that they “don’t really see them being able to turn things around here.”
The source added, “It’s been breaking down the last couple of months and isn’t looking good.”
