There are plenty of incredible looks from the 2025 Met Gala circulating online, but fans were duped by the fake AI-generated images of Katy Perry. In the image, Perry is depicted wearing a dress that paired pinstriped tux with a futuristic looking dress in line with this year’s theme.
The 40-year-old “California Girls” singer took to Instagram to share the fake image circulating online and confirmed that she didn’t attend the Met Gala this year.

“Couldn’t make it to the MET,” she wrote in her caption. “I’m on The Lifetimes Tour (see you in Houston tomorrow IRL‼️).” Perry also included the AI-generated photos and the online reaction from fans across social media.
One fan on X (formerly known as Twitter) even wrote, “If I had a nickel every time an AI Katy Perry Met Gala look went viral, I would have two, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird it happened twice.”

Fans referenced another AI-generated image of Perry that went viral last year during the 2024 Met Gala, which tricked her mom last year. She also included a screenshot of her mom’s text to her, where she sent the AI photo to her.
But the “Roar” singer joked in her caption that her mom wouldn’t be fooled this year because “I was actually with my mom” and joked that “I’m praying for the rest of y’all.”
Perry’s fiancé and actor Orlando Bloom reacted to the post in the comments and wrote “Not once but twice 😂 still got it 🔥.”
