Katie Holmes had Dawson’s Creek fans feeling like it was 2003 again after she reunited with her former on-screen (and off-screen) love interest Joshua Jackson in New York City on Monday—and now, she’s got the Joey Potter-approved wardrobe to match. On Tuesday, July 22, the First Daughter actress looked like the ultimate girl next door as she stepped out in a divisive farmcore-inspired denim look while filming Happy Hours.
While shooting scenes for the romantic dramedy in New York City, Holmes wore a pair of baggy jean overalls—a Joey Potter staple—paired with another nostalgic Y2k-era styling trend: a short-sleeved navy blue t-shirt worn over a longer-sleeved black top. Giving viewers a preview of her character’s art teacher-inspired fashion sense, Holmes rolled up the hems of the loose-fitting cottagecore dungarees to show off a pair of slouchy caramel brown leather cowboy boots underneath. Wearing a silver watch on her wrist, the star kept her glam simple with her highlighted brunette hair worn down in soft waves and subtle definition on her eyes and lips. A large black leather handbag with statement gold hardware sat on a bench next to her.

Holmes’s latest Happy Hours outfit shares nods to the same rustic ethos she displayed during Monday’s outing with Jackson. In photos snapped of the co-stars in New York City, the Fringe star—who stars opposite Holmes in their latest project—could be seen wearing an olive green shirt paired with blue jeans and a T-shirt. Meanwhile, Holmes wore a cozy lumberjack-coded flannel open to show off a gray ribbed tank top and her navy blue dress pants underneath.

Based on Holmes’s latest outings, it looks like she could be bringing her Dawson’s Creek era fashion sense back to the big screen for her new role.
