The plot only seems to thicken after JoJo Siwa and Kath Ebbs’s breakup.
Before we get into the latest installment of the saga, allow us to catch you up to speed: JoJo and Kath went public with their relationship in January before the “Karma” singer was cast on Celebrity Big Brother U.K., where she quickly formed a bond with her housemate Chris Hughes and explored her sexuality and gender identity. Amid all of this ^^^, Kath alleged that JoJo emotionally cheated on them with Chris and seemingly confirmed that they got “dumped” at the Big Brother wrap party in a since-deleted 13-minute-long TikTok.
Now, Kath has opened up about their split from JoJo in a bombshell interview with Betches, where they revealed the video was only taken down at their ex’s request.
“She promised me if I deleted the TikTok video, she would no longer talk about me,” Kath, who identifies as nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns, explained. “And she didn’t hold up that promise.” At the time of the interview, Kath had reached out to JoJo to talk things through—and was reportedly ghosted for two days.
“There have been so many times in the past month when I’ve thought about disappearing when this all feels way too overwhelming,” Kath told the publication, adding, “The person who used to be my support system has not only vanished but turned against me and allowed this behavior to continue towards me. Everyone’s talking about me, but not to me. I feel voiceless, and that’s a really big trigger for me because of things that I’ve grown up with. People are calling me names. People are making assumptions about my character. And when you’re in it, it feels like it’s never going to go away.”
Once Kath’s video was removed, JoJo said she was “cussed out” by the content creator during the BB wrap party and even spoke about their split in an interview with Us Weekly.
“I had a lot of talks with my ex about that and we cleared it up. They said that out of anger and frustration, but they also know that’s not true,” the Dance Moms alum said of Kath’s initial allegations that she had cheated on them.
JoJo added, “I think that was very uncool of them and I was very honest with them about that. There’s a hundred reasons why my breakup happened and I’ve talked those through with my ex and I’ve talked those through with the people in my life.”
During their conversation with Betches, Kath also clarified that they didn’t actually believe that JoJo cheated, saying, “I think my boundaries were crossed in a way that felt like a betrayal of trust repeatedly around affection.”
Kath went on to explain their reaction to JoJo’s revelation of switching labels and identifying as queer and nonbinary.
“I believe she made a lapse in judgment, and I was obviously collateral in that, and I wish that didn’t happen because it was incredibly hurtful,” they explained. “But I do not believe that she had malicious intent in that interaction.”
As for their feelings in the aftermath? “I feel a bit like I’ve been this pawn that’s been moved around in this story by Big Brother, by JoJo, by her PR team, by the tabloids,” Kath shared.
“I feel really beaten around by that because it’s just not something I asked for. And I think at the end of the day, the boring headline is: I’m just heartbroken, and I’ve just gone through a really messy breakup that I didn’t see coming, and I’m in shock, and I’m picking up the pieces of my love life and of my life in that.”
