Kate Winslet is taking on a new royal role for King Charles’ foundation.
On June 26, The King’s Foundation announced the Academy Award-winning actress as a new ambassador for the charity. Winslet, 49, joins a starry ambassador group including David Beckham, Rod Stewart, Penny Lancaster, Sienna Miller and more, who back the charity working to create communities where people, places and the planet can harmoniously coexist.
“I am so thrilled to become an ambassador for The King’s Foundation, particularly as the charity celebrates its 35th anniversary this year,” Winslet said in a selfie-style video released about the announcement.
“The King’s Foundation does such fantastic work to prioritize and protect nature, and our wonderful planet. In particular, championing field to fork farming, as well as getting young people outdoors and learning about our beautiful countryside, and how we can all play a part in protecting its future,” the Mare of Easttown star continued.
Winslet said the sectors were “deeply important to me and to so many of us,” adding that it was “fascinating” to learn more about the foundation’s work.
“And I am really looking forward to collaborating with the other ambassadors so we can discuss ways in which we can collectively make a positive difference,” she concluded the clip featuring video from the recent King’s Foundation Awards, young people gardening and serene nature scenes.
Winslet recently attended The King’s Foundation annual awards ceremony at St. James’s Palace in London on June 12. There, she mingled with the King at the event marking the foundation’s 35th anniversary year alongside the newly knighted Beckham and Meryl Streep.

King Charles, 76, established the organization in 1990 when he was the Prince of Wales. The King’s Foundation (previously called The Prince’s Foundation) is inspired by his philosophy of harmony, which aims to protect and promote nature and sustainability.
The charity is focused on building communities and transforming lives through educational programs in traditional skills and environmental education, and sustainably approach placemaking in towns and cities. It provides educational courses for about 15,000 students each year and health and well-being programs for around 2,000 people annually, in addition to spearheading regeneration efforts in the U.K. and overseas to revitalize communities and historic buildings.

In a statement, Kristina Murrin CBE, Chief Executive of the King’s Foundation, said it would be a pleasure to officially work with Winslet.
“It has been fantastic to get to know Kate and we are thrilled she was able to spend time with our students, alumni and Royal Founding President at The King’s Foundation Awards earlier this month,” Murrin said. “We look forward to working with Kate to promote our work over many years to come.”
In her own message, the Goodbye, June director shouted out the “passion” she and King Charles share for elevating and celebrating the natural world.
