During their two-day visit to the Scottish Isles of Mull and Iona, Prince William and Kate have got stuck in getting to know the locals and helping them with their projects. And the Princess has shared that she has an interest in DIY, revealing that she was even given a chainsaw for Christmas.
Kate, who is known as the Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland, was heard saying that she was “given a chainsaw” for Christmas, according to The Times newspaper. The conversation is said to have taken place as the royal couple was helping with work being done to Aros community hall in Tobermory, which their royal Foundation is helping to fund. Kate was also photographed looking relaxed holding a nail gun in the community space.
DIY is the latest in a string of pastimes that Kate has publicly shared she enjoys. In 2023, she told Mike Tindall’s rugby podcast that she is a big fan of swimming, especially in cold water. She is a keen tennis player, showing off her skills alongside US Open Champion Emma Raducanu at a public engagement in 2021. She also enjoys running, skiing and playing the piano.
William and Kate are marking their 14th wedding anniversary with two days of public appearances aimed at highlighting rural Scottish communities and their conservation efforts. Kensington Palace released a photograph of them on social media with their arms around each other looking out at the sea yesterday after their first day on the Isle of Mull. “Wonderful to be back in the Isle of Mull,” the couple posted in a personal message, referencing the fact that they visited the island privately as students many years ago. “Thank you to everyone for such a warm welcome.”
